The GIHSN Scientific Committee held its first meeting end of April 2018 in Paris at OpenHealth facilities

Bringing together 11 influenza experts from the US CDC, the Chinese CDC, the IHME, senior epidemiologists and virologists from all over the world, the Scientific Committee has been set up to provide recommendations for technical, scientific and related ethical aspects of the GIHSN program.

The Scientific Committee has stressed the importance of collecting high quality timely data to allow for decision making on influenza surveillance and related vaccination programs.

Throughout 2020 and 2021, the Milken Institute brought together global health leaders, to build a vision for a coordinated global early warning system to address a key gap in current global disease surveillance efforts. The GIHSN is very pleased to have contributed.

The vision calls for the mobilization of a coordinated network of multisector and multilateral stakeholders to collect data, share insights, and respond to signals of early disease outbreaks.
