THE GIHSN

The Global Influenza Hospital Surveillance Network (GIHSN) is a platform able to generate strong epidemiological and medical evidence on influenza severity and to support vaccine strain selection through timely sharing of clinical and laboratory data. GIHSN can inform policy decisions and serve as a network for improved respiratory viruses surveillance capacity building and response.

INFO COVID-19

–> INFO COVID-19 <–

The GIHSN, supported by the Foundation for Influenza Epidemiology, can be a strong platform for severe COVID-19 surveillance and research. GIHSN systematically collects epidemiological data (e.g. clinical characteristics, outcome, etc.) on patients hospitalized with acute respiratory illness. Respiratory specimens are collected on each patient; swabs are stored and most laboratories have capacity to do further analysis. More than 10,000 samples are collected every year in approximately 100 hospitals across 20 sites worldwide. If you are interested to partner with the GIHSN as part of a research project or grant submission, please contact foundationforinfluenza@gihsn.org
